2014 Sedona Red Rock High School Valedictorian Sophia Licher plans to attend NAU in the fall. She credits SCS with encouraging individual perseverance and challenge in her life. She was able to work at her own pace and more importantly, take her work as far as she wished. Sophia credits SCS with teaching her to be an independent learner. Striving to go the extra mile, she was rewarded with respect from her peers and teachers – something Sophia thinks is very valuable. “Sedona Charter School was a safe learning environment and it taught me that I was the only one who could truly make my future and life be everything I wanted it to be. SCS gave me the confidence to continue to move forward. That feeling of empowerment is invaluable to moving on, out of Sedona, to start my own life and make a difference in the world.”

Rachael Preschler, 2010 graduate of Sedona Charter School, shared Valedictorian honors with Sophia at SRRHS. “Sedona Charter School was incredibly helpful in my education. It allowed me to learn at my own pace and excel.” She led her soccer team, The Verde Valley Victory, to first place in the Durango Shootout in May, scoring the first goal. Teamwork and perseverance were qualities Rachael first began to value at Sedona Charter School.   She won the perseverance award in 8th grade for attending Sedona Charter School from kindergarten all the way through to 8th grade graduation. Rachael plans to attend Barrett Honors College (ASU) and study Biology.
