Sedona Charter School is a non-profit K-8th grade public charter school seeking an energetic and visionary, full-time Director of Suzuki Strings and Orchestral Studies. Located in beautiful Sedona, AZ, SCS delivers strings and orchestral instruction throughout the school day to students in all grades in our brand new, state of the art Performing Arts Classroom.  SCS believes that music instruction is an integral part of a child’s overall education, therefore our mission is to provide a foundation, at an early age, for lifelong engagement with music.

Duties: Schedule and teach bi-weekly small group Suzuki violin lessons to all K-3rd grade students, and bi-weekly small group Suzuki lessons to all 4th-8th grade students (enrolled in strings) on chosen instrument (violin, viola, cello). Total student enrollment in the program ranges from 80-110. Rehearse and conduct larger student orchestras and ensembles. Schedule, organize, prepare and lead all school performances and community events involving the strings program. Participation on school Leadership Team and active involvement in advocacy, fundraising efforts and community outreach on behalf of the SCS strings program

Qualifications: Minimum BM in Music Education, MM in Suzuki Pedagogy preferred. Registered SAA books 1-4 at minimum. AZ Teacher Certification preferred. Has successful prior teaching experience in group instruction at appropriate age levels and must possess strong classroom management and organizational skills. Experience with Music Mind Games a plus. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community members. The best candidate might not yet have met all qualifications.
